Removal of old muffler was easy. As well as rear mounting flier shield gets removed and not used. O2 sensor came out easy. Quality of the AA muffler is top notch. Primary muffler installed easy using the existing rubber grommets. Lined up factory v-band clamp. Installed second muffler it mounts on lower bracket with a second upper bracket supplied by AA. The v-band on the AA setup doesn’t use a gasket. It just is a perfect fit and tighten. Then tighten the factory v-band. I’d strongly encourage picking up a new I did have a new one. Stock ultra seal was shot!

Thus is what every one wants to know. How does it sound?
Idle I would say is same as stock. Up to 3000 rpm, nothing extra for sound. It starts to get louder after 3500 rpm. But nothing obnoxious.
I’m supper happy with the install.

Best part no more glowing exhaust.

Interesting, I was just thinking about adding to the length of the tailpipe
now I have another option, and being new I've yet to experience the

Looks good. Thanks for the details on the install and photos. Glad to hear a real thoughts on the sound level. Question, what is it you recommend having a replacement of?

One of these. There was nothing left of mine. For all intensive and purposes it was gone. Lol

Great writeup and feedback. I think the stock muffler has a heat shield on top but did not see a heat shield on top of the new muffler. Is the heat transfer at the top of the muffler an issue? Also, the oxygen probe is transferred to the new muffler but the cat is gone with the new system. Any issues with it throwing emissions codes? If the cat is gone, what is the purpose now of the oxygen probe? Sorry for all the questions but I'm very interested in installing this on my XD

The new muffler won't run anywhere near as hot because it doesn't have a catalytic converter in it. A cat runs around 1200-1500 degrees... without it, the muffler probably won't get much over 400. Shouldn't be an issue at all in regards to the heat shield.

Temps aren’t comparable. No need for the heat shields. The o2 sensor was upstream from the cat. So no issues with codes. The o2 sensor still works as it always did.

Pulled this out of the spark arrester. Some fiberglass and steel wool. Break in release. lol.

Well after putting 1000 km on it. It’s loud much louder than I like. It blew out a bunch of the packing. If it would have stayed the way it was when new it was great. So stock muffler is back on.

Have you reached out to AA? I think they should hear the feedback. Maybe they would repack it for you... although the shipping would probably be ridiculous.
