I know there a bunch of threads on dust suppression; but started working on it this weekend. Does anyone know why these openings/slots in the firewall are for?

I believe the openings/slots you are referring to in the first pic is where the hood latches fasten into. I couldn't see any way to seal them up that would still allow the latches to work. The second pic looks like you have the front fenders off. I just sealed every opening I could find with foam, tape, whatever to keep air, dust, etc out. Made a lot of difference but not 100%

Thanks! I just figured it out last night. And yes, middle slot if for the latch, but other slots is for the cowl induction part of hood.

But is a source for dust into the dash.
I winder if required to cool the Ride Command computer?

I wonder if you could just stick some filter foam in each side of hood cowling to at least filter dust out?
