High pitch whine gets louder with increased engine RPMs

Just started hearing a louder whine that I initially thought was the Steeldrive transmission when the machine was new, and the sound was far less noticeable, and somewhat pleasing. Now, at 11,000 miles, the whine has become much louder. It goes away at idle, but becomes noticeable at about 10 mph. As the transmission "shifts" through different "gears" in the CVT, the whine seems to follow the engine RPMs and not the speed I am traveling, if that makes sense. Thought it might indicate a transmission fluid level issue, but when you need a PHD to check the fluid level, I thought I would ask if anyone else has had a similar experience. Thanks.

Sorry I can’t give any insight. I haven’t had any type of squealing noise. Just a question to help pin point the issue or problem. Does the noise sound like a fan belt loose on a vehicle?

No. My noise is much more like the front load washing machine going into its high speed spin at the end of the cycle. The loose belt noise would be louder than what I have, but its still very noticeable. Thanks.

The noise /whine is still there. It varies in volume and is an engine noise vs. my initial thought of it being transmission. (In park, it's easy to hear at most RPMs over idle...not noticeable at idle.) Doesn't affect performance and taking it on a 500 mile trip this coming weekend. I went on 335 mile trip in Michigan UP last week with no problem other than noise.

Dealer appointment set for Tuesday, September 30. (Soonest available!) Will also perform 12,000 mile transmission, etc. maintenance. Will update the forum when I learn more.

A few of us have had tensioner bearing fail.
You were correct in helping me understand my noise/whine. After 12 days waiting in the dealerships parking lot for service, they got to it last week. Tensioner bearing failed. Although I did receive the promotional extended warranty coverage offered to purchasers buying before April 30, 2024, this wasn't covered under warranty. (The service writer DID get the pulley/bearing covered by Polaris, not the labor.) Neither was the $80 belt because it's supposed to be replaced every 4,000 miles and I have 11,800 on it now. So I also had the transmission service with filter and fluid as well as front and rear differential fluids replaced..... total invoice was $1,040. Pretty expensive toy, but it's great to have it ready to go and running as quietly as it ran when it was new.

Clubin, thanks for your help. J.
