Has anyone here installed one of these units? Or even seen one in person?

Is it as underwhelming as it appears online? It appears to be little more than a waste of $300 USD, but pictures can be deceiving.

Your eyes are not lying to you, it's not what I would call a bumper at all. It's nothing more than a metal shell that covers the plastic shell on the tailgate, IMHO there are a lot better options out there. I have the DRT bumper and love it, it's not the biggest or boldest but it really flows with the lines of the Ranger

Ditto on what Big Red said. Plus you have to drill 3 holes into the tailgate to mount it. And I wanna say they’re about 1” holes. Clubin would know more on the hole size. I have the thumper fab winch bumper and love it. The winch and mounting did have the strength to pull me out of snow.

I'm also told the Polaris "Bumper" also makes your tailgate heavier which effects how much effort it requires to close it. Some might like it but I'm defiantly a fan.

Thanks everyone, appreciate the sanity check. Yeah, taking a hole saw to the tailgate is a hard pass for me. Polaris should be ashamed of themselves for even bringing this item to market.

I have been eyeing up the Thumper Fab Ranger 1500 XD Rear Winch Bumper. I saw one of its cousins on a Ranger XP at the dealer - it looked decent and appeared to be well built. I will check out the DRT offerings as well.

Mr.C - Did you get your bumper/winch setup with or without lights? I'm not sure I would use the rear winch, but the lights certainly appeal to me - especially if they function on/off as "reverse lights". Also, have you had any issues related to "Bed tilt is reduced by 10 degrees"?

DRT bumper comes with rear lights standard but no wiring harness. You can upgrade to a halo type, both can be wired any way you want to. The bumper will NOT work with a rear winch, it's not big (deep) enough. No clearance issues with the dump bed with 32" tires would also clear 33" tires not sure about 35"s

I got mine with the lights. The lights are wired into an auxiliary switch, I wanted them to come one whenever I wanted them to. The auxiliary lights on my headache rack are on the same switch.

I run valor 32” tires and my main issue with bed tilt is with my rear stinger with 2” ball. The fairlead on the bumper winch hits the ball before the bumper hits the tires. But I’m still able to dump fire wood, weeds, etc just fine.

The rear winch comes in handy. For an anchor to a tree to pull an item out of the road or? Plus sometimes, you just don’t want to keep going forward when you get stuck.
