Looking to install Thumper Fab Long Travel and Fox shocks. I’m running 33x12.50x15 Toyos now . It sits at 75” wide. According to my math if I add 8” wider- 4” to each side I will be at 83” Overall Wide . Thoughts on some OHV Park regulations .?
Howdy.. With what I can see in your Picture, You are Pretty much Right at what a Long Travel Kit would be/put you at on Stock Wheels… I Personally am a Fan/Like the JRI(Which is being Rebranded as Cedar Suspension Co. CSC).. I Have HCR on One machine and JRI/CSC on a Second 1500.. (No personal experience with Thumper Fab other than hearing it takes people 6 plus months to get their parts..)
We’ve Built 20-30 Different Machines in All various configurations.. Like a General with HCR, and then A General XP with what I called A Red-Neck Long Travel etc. (ZRP 4”wheel Spacer Hubs(which I don’t know if are even available anymore) and 4+3 Wheels)
Biggest problem that we’ve always ran into isn’t or hast been Trails, It’s a Geometry issue.. In my experience, if on Stock suspension anything over say like the Packard 3.5X3.5 (designed for Dune wheels), it’s Almost Impossible to Spring and get Valving even Close to “Rught”..
Stock Suspension with like a Max of a 4+3 wheel is Good width and not to hard to make Ride Very Good.. Any Long/Mid Travel Kit with say over aPackard 5+2(reason I say Packard is they measure like or close to a 4*3) Is Damn hard to get good Spring Rate and/or Valving to get them to Ride Good..(Like the Main purpose for going Long/Mid Travel) With enough time and Money, All is possible..!
Long Story Short… I’ve done a Set of pretty much exactly of what I see in you Picture, (on Stock Shocks) And it Rode Really Good, and Width was within an inch of when I did the JRI / CSC Mid Travel…
I Very Much Love the Set of Terrain Master/SdI Shocks I put on my 1500, But when I had the Hostile Pickup Wheels, And actual Truck Tires, I hated how much power they Robbed to Turn… I Really like the Lighter Hostile Wheels, But lighter for UTV Tires.. When we weighed the 2 different setups,Pickup wheels with Hostile Pickup wheels against Packard(or could’ve been Hostile for UTV wheels), both 32” tires…the pickup wheel setup was a Full 26 pounds per wheel heavier..
Guess Jeep gettin distracted from original post… My Experience, Mid Travel Kit from any Manufacturer and over a 5+2 offset wheel, it’s just Way to Hard to Spring(for proper ride Height) and Valve(for proper/Good Ride.. Also, Heavier the Wheel end will kill power and Exacerbate the whole System… Unless some is building a “Sema Build/Mall Crawler”…
My $.07…
