I installed door mounted side mirrors yesterday. It was pretty straightforward, but I have a suggestion to offer:
I found that the internal nuts weren’t exactly inline with the dimples for the pilot holes. So when using a 7/8” hole saw, the arbor bit actually damages some of the threads of the internal nuts.
Therefore, after drilling the 1/4” pilot holes, only use the arbor bit of the hole saw enough to start cutting the 7/8” hole. Then remove the arbor bit and finish cutting the those holes.

Thanks for the info. just got the Mirrors and will be installing this week.

Also, before I started with the hole saw, I used a washer to shorten the depth of the arbor bit.

Thanks for the washer spacer. That helped to prevent damage to the threads. Only small issue was the stick on seal rubbed off when sliding mirror on. So I used some blacck RTVsealant to seal top on sides only. Left the bottom unsealed incase it leaks , water can then get out.

Glad you got it done.
