Just a heads up. When dumping or raising your bed be careful if you have your receiver hitch ball mounted. Your tailgate can contact the top of the ball when fully raised. I drilled another hole for my pin where I can turn the ball sideways to keep it from hitting and still have my receiver hitch handy. Turning it upside down doesn’t work well because of clearance issue.

I lived this and should have done as you and warned others.

Great idea! I was thinking of getting a 12” extension. For 2 reasons, one being so the winch fairlead on the bumper doesn’t hit the ball when raised, and to make it easier to hook onto my little dump trailer. Drilling a new hole sounds cheaper and I don’t have an extension way out there. Thanks!
