Release brake warning message

Does anyone know why a message “ release brake” scrolls across the instrument panel of my XD 1500 Northstar, which consequently reduces my speed to under 20 MPH? Usually disconnecting battery ground for a few minutes solve the problem, but it’s a real PIA. Thanks.

I would guess the brake sensor switch either needs adjusted away from the contact point or replaced. Sounds like it thinks the brake is still depressed. I had this happen on a motorcycle once and the brake light would not shut off. One way to possibly check this is to see if your brake lights are on when this happens.
