Spare Key

We purchased our 2024 Ranger new and received two keys from the dealer. I usually keep the second key under the hood taped to the plastic with black duct tape which makes it invisible but accessible. I find that I can be forgetful and perhaps I should have another spare…CRS (can’t remember shit) is accelerating.

I had a few extra keys for our General which I obtained from the dealer and had cut at ACE. When attempting to purchase a blank from the dealer for our Ranger they informed me that there are no blanks for Rangers. They said that you will need to purchase a new ignition and it only comes with TWO keys for $140!

Ouch!! I would just live with the 2 you have for that kind of coin.

Yup, the new ignition will be keyed different I presume.

If your machine falls under the door latch recall. You get extra keys. I just had it done and now my old keys and new keys will work the doors and ignition. So now I have like 5 keys.

I think I would start by calling a different dealer and confirm what you were told.

I got mine done a week ago and got new keys to match the replaced doors and ignition. Unlike Mr.C my old keys DO NOT fit my new locks or ignition so I threw them away, so I didn't mix up my spare.

Was at my dealer today and asked about getting a spare key. He said if I give him the number on the key he will give me a blank and I can go to the hardware store and have one made. I looked when I got home and don't see a number on the key, but there is a small rectangular plastic plate attached to the key ring with a number on it. I'm hoping that's it. Wood like to have one more spare just because.

I also purchased a matching blank from a my dealer and had the blank cut at the local hardware store. Blank keys are available.
