Walker Evans shocks

Nope I guess the website doesn't show them separately. I would go with the longer pair in front.

I received 2 boxes and each box had a long and short shock in each box. Not what you’d think by having rear pairs together and shorts the same. No instructions in box. Thanks for info. I’ve got rears off and will let you know. Shocks look incredible in person. Hope they perform the same.

Long time lurker, 1st time poster. I just received the walker Evans piggybacks. Trying to install but they don’t list what shocks go where. I’m getting conflicting info on what shocks go to front/ back. Any help?
Short one are front. I have received the rears for mine so far and they are longer. I have the zbros exit shocks.

Alright, got them installed. Longer ones on front as front stockers were a little more than an inch longer than rears. Ride quality is substantially improved. I do need to adjust preload for some more ground clearance as shocks are set at stock ride height as I like a tad more. Just now started messing with clickers on shocks, so far, so good!

I did have to trim the protective master cylinder plate a tad as the reservoir was less than a 1/4” of clearance from it. Used tin snips.

Mine came today and I got them installed. I agree with Boomer, ride quality is improved a lot. I haven't messed with the clickers yet either, I will try both softer and firmer depending on. I've been talking to a couple buddies, hopefully a late fall/early winter trip will happen when we all get time. I'm anxious to get back up in the mountains and try them out!

Anymore feedback on these shocks ? I have narrowed my choices to these and the Elka stage 4 , but still not sure the Elkas have dual rate springs , hope to have an answer soon . Thanks for any additional information.

I've only put on 100 miles or so since I put mine on. I haven't been trail riding yet but I think it goes without saying they will out perform the stock shocks by a lot. I have been on a bunch of really rough tore up dirt roads. In my opinion there is a big difference. My wife thinks so also. They were worth the money to me, but ymmv.

Appreciate the update. Any tricks for install or everything just in and out with no drama?

It's a pretty straightforward job except the top front mounts are tough to get to. Just not a lot of room up there. There are 2 access ports under the hood to get to the through bolts. I did mine by myself but a second pair of hands would have made things a lot easier.

Thanks for the feedback , I’m still waiting on a response from Elka on their shocks , probably give them a few days.
Walkers look like a nice setup more than likely I’ll go with them. Elkas also have a 6 to 8 week lead time , would be hard to wait after pulling the trigger .

Looking at Boomers photos the front shock has 550 lb on top and 450 lb on the bottom , I don’t see how the crossover's would ever come into play with that setup. If someone could explain I would like to understand .

Could you tell me which hole you used to mount the front shocks , the inner hole where the stock shocks were mounted the Walker shock body hits on the shock mount ,like shock eye is to close to the shock body. I’m going to try the outer hole next . The top shock mount is a pain to get at , would be nice if Walker could have threw in a piece of paper saying not to use the stock hole . I hope the outer hole has more clearance .

I used the inner hole. Things are pretty tight up there but they go. One thing I can think of, the piggybacks have to be angled towards the back. Not saying you got them wrong, just all I can think of.

They bolted up ok on the inner hole , but there was no room for the shock to pivot . As the suspension loaded the top of shock hits on frame mount , like the eye on the shock is to close to the shock body to allow it pivot on the top bolt . I’m going to try to get them on the phone tomorrow , maybe can get some information . I have them mounted the same as what Boomer has in his photo .

Damn, I went out and looked at mine and I guess I missed that during the install. I haven't been on anything but rough roads since I put them on. No damage done but I don't see any alternative but to mount to the outer holes. I hope it doesn't change things much. If you get a hold of them, please let us know what they say.

I sent an email this morning I hope they respond , there is more clearance on the outside hole . Most seam to think the ride is stiffer on the outside hole. , kind of defeats the purpose of the upgraded shocks. I will let you know if Walker responds , they didn’t answer my questions before purchase .

I suppose the shoulders of the shocks that are making contact could be ground down a bit, but I'm not about to do that with brand new shocks.

This is a great discussion. I may wait to buy until you convince them to modify the design😁😁
