Short one are front. I have received the rears for mine so far and they are longer. I have the zbros exit shocks.Long time lurker, 1st time poster. I just received the walker Evans piggybacks. Trying to install but they don’t list what shocks go where. I’m getting conflicting info on what shocks go to front/ back. Any help?
I've only put on 100 miles or so since I put mine on. I haven't been trail riding yet but I think it goes without saying they will out perform the stock shocks by a lot. I have been on a bunch of really rough tore up dirt roads. In my opinion there is a big difference. My wife thinks so also. They were worth the money to me, but ymmv.Anymore feedback on these shocks ? I have narrowed my choices to these and the Elka stage 4 , but still not sure the Elkas have dual rate springs , hope to have an answer soon . Thanks for any additional information.
It's a pretty straightforward job except the top front mounts are tough to get to. Just not a lot of room up there. There are 2 access ports under the hood to get to the through bolts. I did mine by myself but a second pair of hands would have made things a lot easier.Appreciate the update. Any tricks for install or everything just in and out with no drama?
Thanks for the feedback , I’m still waiting on a response from Elka on their shocks , probably give them a few days. It's a pretty straightforward job except the top front mounts are tough to get to. JBMine came today and I got them installed. I agree with Boomer, ride quality is improved a lot. I haven't messed with the clickers yet either, I will try both softer and firmer depending on. I've been talking to a couple buddies, hopefully a late fall/early winter trip will happen when we all get time. I'm anxious to get back up in the mountains and try them out!
They bolted up ok on the inner hole , but there was no room for the shock to pivot . As the suspension loaded the top of shock hits on frame mount , like the eye on the shock is to close to the shock body to allow it pivot on the top bolt . I’m going to try to get them on the phone tomorrow , maybe can get some information . I have them mounted the same as what Boomer has in his photo .I used the inner hole. Things are pretty tight up there but they go. One thing I can think of, the piggybacks have to be angled towards the back. Not saying you got them wrong, just all I can think of.
I sent an email this morning I hope they respond , there is more clearance on the outside hole . Most seam to think the ride is stiffer on the outside hole. , kind of defeats the purpose of the upgraded shocks. I will let you know if Walker responds , they didn’t answer my questions before purchase .Damn, I went out and looked at mine and I guess I missed that during the install. I haven't been on anything but rough roads since I put them on. No damage done but I don't see any alternative but to mount to the outer holes. I hope it doesn't change things much. If you get a hold of them, please let us know what they say.
