cold start pops and sputters and almost stalls

Bumping this thread for those interested in the opinions and experiences of what type of gas to run and why.

Mine is doing the same thing again. My warranty is up so I ordered the evolution tune. Should be coming soon.Seems like it fixes the problem according to the 505 outsiders YouTube couple.These things run too rich from the factory. I am also switching back to non-ethanol after the tune. Brother-in-law got the HD-11 and hasn’t had a single issue.

My new 1500 Northstar runs terrible when cold starting. I let it idle for awhile, then try to start going in comfort mode and it pops, backfires shudders and almost stalls. Is this normal? I have many fuel injected machines, including Polaris 4 wheelers that don't have this problem. Or am I being picky? After the engine warms up to operating temperture the problem goes away.

Mine was the same. There's a software update for it . Worked for a year and now its starting to act up again . Mine is just up and down on the rev works like shit untill warm.

Couldn’t agree more. Wishing he would’ve bought a 1500. I’m embarrassed to even be seen riding with him.

We ride with a couple of them. The owners like them. I’m sure they cause cancer though. So we keep our distance. lol
