Thanks for all member for your info , I have a 2025 Ranger 1500 NS crew unlimited. Just a note we pay 50k for a nice machine and no front headrest . How to get the rear headrest off to put on the front seats. Have some order from Polaris backordered . But if someone knows how to get the back ones off would be very appreciative. Thanks again Dave

I would be careful not having back headrest. Someone sitting in back will hit their head on back glass. Several places to order ones, yes they are on back order because everyone wants them

Know i'm sorry if you want to put seat covers you need to remove, i'm getting some for the front seat. But thanks for the info.

Do a search for head rest removal, it has been brought up a few times and I think someone posted how to do it.

My dealer removed them. He said he just pulled up a little bit at a time alternating side to side
I can't speak from experience because I've never tried to remove one. That said I remember others here had a hard time getting them out and I think it required a lot more than just wiggling them side to side till they popped out. Somebody with experience please respond to help Smokey Dave out.

I thought the same. I thought someone said there is catch down inside that has to be released but I may not be remembering correctly. I have a pair coming but several weeks out.

There are tabs on the headrest facing forward that lock in with quite a bit of tension . Installation is very tight because of the tabs , one of mine broke during installation so I removed all tabs and they have been fine . Easy to remove if needed and so far no rattles or down side . I don’t think moving side to side would release the tabs , probably have to remove set cushion to release tabs . Good luck with that , they are very tight also .

Thanks for the response Skippy, I may trim the tabs as well

That is more of what I remember about the conversation......I thought you had to remove the seat back and the entire process was a real PITA. (pain in the ass)

Yep seat back cushion , the tabs face forward on the rest. The new rests only want to go about half way in and stop . I tried to tap or pound them down with my hand and broke the one tab . I tried to remove the seat back but was unsuccessful , didn’t want to break anything off of it .

Seat Back Removal

NOTICE
Parts of vehicle have been hidden for clarity.
  1. Push down on seat back cushion to remove.
    TIP
If the seat back cushion does not release from seat back, pull bottom of seat out away from seat back and seat tabs.

  2. Push both tabs in and pull up on headrest to remove.

And then good luck getting it to go back on and stay. I had my passenger side fall off first day owning and had to actually glue it back on.
