Hi all! This is hillfarmer. As the name states I farm the western iowa hills. Recently got a xd1500, it’s my fourth Ranger through 20+ years. This new one is quite impressive however I’m having a few issues. Hoping to learn some things here. Using this rig all for farm work. I’m 62 years old so forgive me if I don’t get this forum thing figured out!

Welcome hillfarmer, don't worry about internet etiquette, there are many of us here that aren't techy.
I think about any issue you are dealing with has been discussed, hope we can help.

Welcome to the group hillfarmer, you will find we are an older group as most of us are 60 or older (according to the poll I did months ago) Not everyone is tech savvy, but we are a helpful respectful bunch. Don't be shy and chime in whenever you have something to add.

Welcome Hillfarmer. We're from Eastern Iowa, Muscatine. Good group here for sure. What issues are you having?

Thanks to those that welcomed me to the group. I’m having issue with ride command stuck in dark mode. Even with light switch on any position

You are correct. Button is grayed out. I can slide dimmer to make it brighter.

Welcome to the forum! Congrats on the new machine. It’s possible you don’t have the latest ride command update. I’m not sure exactly where to verify what version is current versus what is loaded. I just have my dealer verify all updates whenever it’s in. In the meantime try turning your headlight switch to the first position. That usually worked for me.

Kind of had this happen yesterday. Here's what worked for us. We left for a ride during the daytime and Ride Command would only work in dark mode.
1. Rotated the headlights dial one click clockwise from off.
2. Tapped the dark mode moon on the Ride Command.
3. It then showed the moon, Auto and I guess it's a sun.
4. Tapped on the sun and the daylight mode came on.
As we started riding I did have to cycle through this a couple of times but after that it worked fine the rest of the day. 🤷🏻

Mine is still locked onto dark mode, no matter what light switch position is. I normally run lights on first click away from off. My buttons on bottom of ride command, volume, map, gauge, and so on, will flicker dim to bright occasionally.
I’m wondering if it’s something with the light sensor, or maybe software issue?
Thanks for the replies to all.

I think your hunch is a good guess, light sensor, software or just plain defective ride command. There have been a couple on this site had to have them changed.
