Welcome Rich, glad to have you here! I had the same trailer you do but moved up to a 14" when I got the XD so I could tie it down in the front better. My suggestion is to use soft straps on the A-frame of the tongue so you can pull the Ranger forward rather than backwards when you tie it down. I'll post a pic later when I have time.

Richs XD1500 - Here is a picture of how I tied the XD down on the 12' Aluma trailer. The second picture is what it looks like on a 14' trailer.
