I didn't know that, that sounds like a fun job. These are a stretch belt. No tentioner. Don’t know how easy it would be to change on the trail.
Easy Amazon.caI think it Will be pretty easy. Looks like you can put belt over the pulleys and start it over the crank and just turn the crank to get it on.
There was a member that buried their's in a mud hole that took the belt out. He also had his engine toast shortly afterI would think something had to get into the case to do that kind of damage. I thought it was sealed to prevent this.
That looks like a " must have ".
Zip ties work just fine. And a tap on the key. That looks like a " must have ".
So I buy one, place it in the "appropriate " storage place, and down the road when I have to change the belt I completely forgot I own this special tool.
Yup, that's what I do
If you’re like me, you would find the first one you bought immediately after buying a second one. That looks like a " must have ".

5,900 miles on our 1500, idler pulley bearing burned up and cratered the pulley and scorched the belt. I'm guessing if it's anything other than just a simple failure, its dust related. Lots of very fine dust under that cover.I was changing the oil today and noticed some shreds of belt sticking out of the alternator cover, I took it off and there was only two strands left holding my belt together. Not sure what caused it, the machine has about 5k miles on it.

Absolutely. First time I've had to walk home with this, though. Belt's proving to be an SOB to get onRead this happening a few times now. In the automotive world 5500 miles is brand new
It’s a stretch belt. There is a special tool to install the belt. But a few specially placed zip ties and a quick tap on the key works too.Absolutely. First time I've had to walk home with this, though. Belt's proving to be an SOB to get on
Going to be headed to town this afternoon, can't hurt to have that tool on hand! It’s a stretch belt. There is a special tool to install the belt. But a few specially placed zip ties and a quick tap on the key works too.
