Is anyone here using any type of 2 way communication in their 1500’s yet? If so where did you mount everything?

I just purchased a Cobra 75 which is an all in one hend held style. It bluetooths to the main power box. Just need to plug the mic into a USB port for power. For the PNW it’s nice to have a CB in case I’m in an active logging area so I know if there’s any log trucks coming up or down. As they’re supposed to announce at the mile markers and have their channel posted.

Also thinking of adding a GMRS radio which I’m really having a hard time deciding where to mount that.

Was just curious.

Hi, I put an LMR radio in mine with a remote head. Mounted the head on the drivers side roof/ceiling. There is a metal brace for the roof behind the carpet. It's out of the way. I mounted the radio block behind the front seat on my crew. I took hose clamps with vinyl hose around them to hold the mount. It does stick down a bit but there is still leg room. If I there had been enough cable for the remote head there is a decent place to mount it by the engine. But make sure yours is rated for the weather. Please remember the clearances you need to maintain from the antenna so you don't have issues. I mounted my antenna using one of the holes for a headache rack on back of the cab. I don't usually have passengers in the back seat when i'll be transmitting with the radio.

So far we’re just using the Rugged Radios handheld. All our other machines have Rugged Coms and Radios, so it’s good to have communication.
I’ve looked pretty hard at where to mount a hardwired radio and the best idea so far is to mount it overhead by the switches.

The first pic is what the remote head radio looks like in mine. The second pic is where it was in my 1000 ranger. Just used automotive double stick tape to hold it in place. That could work in a 1500 but I think it would get in the way of the tip out windshield pretty bad.

That’s a clean look on the headliner. I ended up mounting my midland radio by attaching it to the side of the razorback off-road center hump console.

Your picture shows why I want a lip on my floor mats, in the winter that crap is usually mud, sand and water. If you don't have a lip it just leaks under the mat which gives you 2 messy surfaces to clean up.

Totally agree, that’s why I chose those mats is for the lip. We’ve been fairly dry and no snow fall out east, so haven’t gathered much inside yet.
