Kenda Klever XT 32x10x15

Well, I bought a set of Kenda Klever XTs in 32x10x15 for my new Ranger. Got them mounted and put about 35 miles on them. They are absolutely fantastic on pavement, gravel, and rocky rutted dirt trails. However, I've decided to switch to BFG KM3s to better suit my needs.

My question is, what would be a fair price to ask for these? The tires look basically new. They still have the little hairs on them.

Or would it be smart to keep them since they are studdable and have them studded to use for winter/plowing? If that were the case, I would obviously have them mounted on a set of wheels for a simple swap.

Now those are interesting questions that really only you can answer, but since your asking this is what I would say if it was me.

1. If they are so great why not just keep them and run them?
2. A fair price is what anyone is willing to pay you for them. I would never pay more than half for used when compared to new........but that's me.
3. If you have extra wheels and you want studded tires in the winter then keep them for that. If you have to buy another set of wheels to do it then I probably wouldn't.

All good points. And I appreciate the feedback! I don't have an extra set of wheels at the moment but do intend to get wheels during black Friday.

While they are terrific tires in all those conditions, there is one that they fail miserably in, which is not completely unexpected but I thought they would be ok for what limited amount I will be riding in and that's thick soupy mud.

I have 2 small sections of trail going to my hunting stands that is no more than 10-15 yards each where a natural spring exists and keeps it very soft and soupy regardless of how dry it is elsewhere. I never once struggled with it on my ATV and could usually make in in 2wd. And it's honestly not even the "bad" section of the hill. The bad section that's extremely steep rutted and rocky is where I usually struggled. But the ranger and Kendas ate that up and never flinched. But when I got to those 2 little muddy sections, I made it about 6-7 ft and tires were packed full of mud and I was stuck. Had to winch myself up both sections.

Never dreamed I wouldn't be able to make it up 2 small portions of muddy hill. So thats a no go for me. I'm not winching myself up the hill every time I go hunting.

So they are coming off, which does suck bc they are great on everything else. But they pack full and don't clear mud at all.

They other thing i experienced that has nothing to do with tires but did not inspire confidence in me with the ranger was when I was coming back down those portions of hill, the ranger didn't want to hold engine breaking. On my ATV id just let the engine hold me back and come down nice and easy. But with the ranger, it just wanted to free wheel the entire way down and not engage any engine breaking. Almost like it was going into neutral. Which then caused me to have to hit and ride breaks in the mud which then caused the ranger to start sliding and fish tailing everywhere. I thought she was going to roll over at one point but I was able to steer out of it despite the fact that I was going about 5x's as fast as I've ever come down that trail. I felt like i was in a gncc race! And yes I was in Tow/haul and AWD the entire time.

So I'm still not sure what to make of that. It did the same thing going down my driveway and hill in yard the other day.

Do these things not have good engine breaking? I assumed they did but mine just wants to free wheel all the time.

Engine breaking is better in Sport than Comfort mode for me. I may be wrong but give it a try and see if it makes a difference.

Just my opinion, but I think Sport mode is better in most conditions than tow/haul. I like it much better trail riding in the Black Hills. I know some stick to the tow/haul thing, but I've climbed up and down some pretty gnarly stuff in Sport and never had a problem.

Love the black hills! I lived up by Nemo for a few years... would love to move back some day.

It is very interesting to me how the FB pages are full of people saying they can't climb the smallest of hills with these things. I just don't get it.

Interesting. I was just told my dealer if I was going under 20-25 to keep it in your haul bc they have had several brought in with transmission issues from guys riding in high range at show speeds on trails and hills.

But I will definitely try sport. I thought I read somewhere that it won't go into sport if in AWD. But I may have misread that.

I'm definitely trying next time I'm at the farm.

On a separate note, I got the new tires put on today at my local tire shop. Just so happened another gentleman waiting on his truck also has a 1500. He ended up buying the Kendas they took off. So that was easy! Lol

The Nemo area is great, we've based out of there several times. The Hill City area is nice too, we will be staying there in mid September.
