Misfire code

My brother has a 2025 Ranger 1500 and keeps getting a p301 misfire cylinder 1. Changed the plug. Someone told him it’s because he’s running premium nonethanol fuel in it. And he destroyed his motor. Is anyone else having this issue. I was thinking he might have a bad coil.

Premium non-ethanol fuel will not destroy a motor.......I can't believe how someone could be so ill informed to say something that crazy. There are some here that feel their Ranger starts easier and runs better on ethanol. To that I say run ethanol if you feel it works better for you. Likewise there are some here (like me) that prefers to run the good shit in their toys, once again I say do that if you feel it works better for you. It is generally excepted that regular unleaded fuel is better than ethanol no matter the octane. Higher octane fuel prevents premature detonation (it does not delay it, it just stops it from occurring too early) in higher compression motors. If you use it and your motor doesn't require it..........it hurts nothing other than your wallet. There is a ton of information available on the internet (not opinions) from well respected fuel manufactures that explains the science behind it all if you want more detail.

As for the p301 misfire I can't help you. I know a few members here have had problems that may be able to point you in the right direction. Good luck.

Yep. I run non-ethanol 91 in mine. I figured I'd try it for a tank, and if I encountered starting issues, I'd switch back to 87 ethanol. I have not had any hard starting issues, even when it's very hot out, and no misses.

I've heard of some coils going bad prematurely... it could be that... but until they look into it, its all speculation.
