I’ve only done the Polaris rear speaker system add on. It’s good enough for me. I don’t even turn it up that much, but helps fill out the crew cab with more even sound. Is it overpriced for the end result? Yes. But at the time of ordering the new machine and all the accessories, no one knew. But I’m happy with it.

I got the rear speaker adapter mounts from UTV Stereo but I'm wondering if the factory amp has enough power to drive two additional 6 1/2 inch speakers. Not looking to blast the volume but was hoping to fill out the cab a little. Any thoughts on whether the factory unit can even handle two additional speakers? It's an easy addon if they work as the speaker wires are already back there and UTV Stereo sells the connector kit so you can plug and play. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!

Coming from an Xpedition, the system in the xd1500 ultimate NEEDS a sub for low end fill. The highs and mids are decent, just no low end. I’ll likely get the UTV Stereo 500amp 10” sub kit. The Xpedition really had a great system in it.

What are the thoughts on the Polaris system upgrade? (Rear speakers and two 8in subs?). This is for a 2 door XD.

I’ll give you my 0.02. I have the Polaris rear trail audio kit in my crew cab. I feel it’s more than good enough for me. In my opinion it fills the cab evenly, and the bass is satisfying. In fact some songs I can hear it distorting, and I turn the bass down, because its to much. Should it be better quality for cost? Yes. But my thought was it’s designed for the machine, and with rebates on accessories, it was worth it, in my opinion. Especially if you look at the cost of other equipment like UTV stereo. But I’m also a guy that has factory stereo equipment in my truck for the last 15 years and I’m perfectly happy with it.

Don’t get me wrong, I have had my share of stereo equipment in vehicles and houses. Some vehicles show worthy with stereo equipment. But maybe it’s just my age, or I look at the cost of it versus other places I’d like to spend my money now. I also have a wide range of music that I listen to, so that might also play a factor.

It’s tough for me, I’m a bit of an audiophile. I’ve had Bowers & Wilkins systems in past vehicles (not sxs’s, but cars/suvs). 3rd world problems, but the Xpedition system was pretty impressive for what it was. The XD, for more fun tickets has a shit system. What are the specs of the stock ultimate system anyways? Gotta be like 20w per tweeter and 40w per driver? Lame. The Xpedition had like a 700 or 750w system.. even if 300w of that went to the sub, the other speakers had plenty of power to sound good.

If you do, try it with a corded connection from your source to the machine. The Bluetooth connection is horrible, you loose a lot of sound quality. Set the EQ up to look like a “U”, you can even turn down the bass side to about one click above the middle of the EQ. This sounded great on my Xpedition.

We added the Polaris subs and rear speakers to my brothers XD 1500… And compared to the stock Xpedition stereo, it’s severely lacking.
It’s a definite improvement over just having the 2 front speakers. But for having 2 8” subs, the bass is barely there, and the rear speakers aren’t anything special. They just put some of the sound behind you.

To be fair, I don’t think there’s a factory stereo in any SxS that could compete with the Xpedition’s, regardless of the brand of SxS. Granted the Xpedition stereo has a lot of noise to overcome, whereas the XD doesn’t need so much.

So far my review is this, UTV Stereo seems to make these kits to order. I’ve had my order in for about 8-9 days, it’s just shipping today. I called them, they said they had brackets that were just coming in from powder coat today. Unit shipped this afternoon PST. Looking forward to seeing what this sounds like. In the meantime, I installed the forward looking camera. It took like 5mins to install. Super easy, just need a stepper bit that goes up to 13/16, or a 13/16 twist drill and a square file. Don’t know why these machines didn’t come with this camera, the Xpedition has it stock.

Finished the install of the UTV Stereo 10”sub/box and 500w amp. This was the poor person kit at $1,3XX.00
Install was pretty easy, I took my time and hid the wires nice and so on. The one bracket for the box they give you had to be modified, it would work, but the box would sit kinda crooked. I welded some more material to the bracket and added another slotted hole, box fits perfect now.

I spent some time tuning the amp (sensitivity, bass boost, low pass filter, ect). It’s pretty much dialed in.

Sounds absolutely fantastic. I have the bass turned way down on the EQ, the highs and mids now sound clear, and you have great low end fill. It definitely hits hard on some tracks.

The only downside is, where the box sits, you have to remove the box to access the battery and fuse panel. Not a deal breaker, but worth mentioning. Oh, and you loose that bucket spot under the passenger seat, which kinda sucks, I used to toss a backpack or 18pk under there sometimes. First world problems.

Overall the kit is great quality, and sounds slightly better than my Xpedition did.

I’d give them a call. They can set you up with what you want, I’m sure. They were very helpful with the questions I had.

Do you have a crew? With the 2 door, I don’t think you really even need the extra rear speakers. With the sub, you can tweak the JBL EQ so the front tweeters and midrange drivers sound great, the sub gets dialed in on their amp they provide. You basically turn the bass way down on the JBL/Ride Command EQ, the sub provides all your low end fill. Really sounds great in a 2 door.
