What audio modifications are you guys doing?

We installed the Polaris rear system in our 2025 crew, and it is disappointing for the price but may fit the needs of some. I reached out to Crutchfield to get two different subs and an amplifier that will work with the current system to improve it. I want Focals but since these have to almost be flush mount style I may need other options. We did use dyno-mat behind the subs, but it needs to be thin due to the depth of the sub and encloser. In the one sub pocket we used the dyno-mat spray, but the mat is much better where applicable.

I installed the new amp last night and it is an improvement over the old one, but it is not a huge difference. We used a MBQuarts marine grade 750W mono amp. This amp gave me access to the low pass filters and has some features that helped me fine tune the subs a little better. $149 plus tax and shipping and 2 hours of installation time. It is a 20-30% improvement but the subs will need to be replaced to make it even better. Sound is subjective so some of you may be happy with this change. I will be ordering subs and see if that helps even more.

After doing some testing today, it may be a 50% improvement and acceptable now. Need some more time with it to tell for sure. I will still be changing out the sub. eventually for Kicker 8 inch or something of a better grade for $150 it was worth the upgrade.

This amp would power a under seat 10-inch sub and probably sound substantially better, but I want to see if I can make this a little better for not a ton of money.

Another quick update. I took out the stock subs and installed 1 kicker 8-inch shallow sub. This made a good improvement over the stock speakers. I have a second kicker 8-inch shallow sub but to make it work I will need to remove the seat belt on the driver's side rear. It's just my wife and I so it's not a big deal for us but honestly, the sound with 1 sub is better than the JBL and would suffice for most. I think the two 8 inch will be pretty good, but we may just live with the 1 sub.

Fo Cal makes two 8 inch really shallow subs for $1360 a piece. That got shot down during the CFO (wife) review!!lol

Lol, CFO. Never heard that one. But I might have to use it at some point. Although I do have to admit, I don’t get any shit 99.9% of the time on my purchases.

I’m sure the kicker sub sounds a lot nicer. I find myself content most of the time with the JBL kit. But every once in a while depending on the song, I’d like a little more.

With the amp and single sub, it was about $340 to get to this point. The second sub is sitting here but it takes a 1-inch-thick ring to space the sub out enough to clear. The issue then becomes the seat belt right in front of it. The amp I chose comes with an adjustable knob that I installed in the overhead switch panel so I can adjust it per song if I want. I looked at installing the second sub behind the passenger rear seat but haven't figured out a way to do that yet. Heck, I haven't even figured out how to get that seat back off.

The knob looks factory up there and took very little time to install.

My CFO would have veto power over that one as well. For almost $1400 I better have a "Happy Ending" every time I hear it thump!

Our machine is out getting ceramic window tint, so I haven't had time to install the second sub. Once the second sub is installed, I will provide an honest opinion. I hate to remove that seat belt but at the end of the day it's just my wife and I along with our Schnauzer!!lol

I was considering this audio kit and reviewing the install instructions on the Polaris site , it appears to have a panel installed over the subs on the inside. Am I missing something , I can’t imagine getting much sound out of it with the subs being covered .

There is not real panel over it. There is a different carpeted piece that comes with the kit that goes over the sub encloser. It does make a little difference with it on or off.

I did install the second sub, and it sounds pretty good now. I lack 1/4 of an inch of getting the seat belt to fit. I have considered shimming out the support where the seat belt mounts but I am tired of working on this thing. If you could buy just the plastic encloser, I could tell you what else to buy to make it sound better than the Polaris subs and amp.

Thanks Tazman I think the hardest part of this install is getting the seat back off , I tried to take one of the front seat backs off and gave up before I broke the clips off . Real pain in the ass to take the seats out .

Skippy, I was not able to get the seat back off but was able to do the install. Maybe someone can post a good video of removing the seat back and show how it actually mounts so we can understand the removal a little better.
