That’s a cool jack and exactly what I need for my place. All I have is gravel and pumice dirt/sand. My normal floor jack is a pain in the ass to use. Plus I have to do the 6”x6” blocks on top of the pad. This broken ankle is gonna cost me a lot of money. lol.

Does anyone know how the Cat 3 Ton Off Road Jack compares to the HF Badland? The Cat 3 Ton is about $180 more than the Badland. However, the Cat 2 Ton Off Road Jack is only $160, and it looks like it would have enough capacity for a UTV.

If you’re planning to get it for shop use, the 3 ton would definitely be better. If it’s to carry in the machine, the 2 ton will work. The bigger wheels on the back of the 3 ton are nice to have.

Well Cat's not in the jack business so it's really a question of who's supplying them. I have not seen or used the Cat 3 Ton off road jack but I have the Badlands jack and there is nothing in that picture that would make me believe it's better or near as good and it cost $200 more. The lift extension is just held on by a twist lock whereas the Bandlands is bolted on so there is no chance of it failing during use. Throw in the fact that HB is always having a sale you could likely get the Badlands for $260 or so. The little Cat jack is almost too small to be much of an off-road jack. It has such a narrow footprint that I would just opt for a Pittsburg 2-ton jack for less money and call it a day.

That is a good point on the HF sales. I need to watch for a sale, so I can't grab a Badland jack.

This weekend may be a good time to pick up the Badlands Off Road Jack if you want one. They normally sell for $300 10% off will bring it down to $270. The cheapest I remember seeing it was $260 so this a fairly good deal. You'll see bigger saving coupons, but these are always excluded from those.

Excellent, thank you!

Did anyone go out and get the Badlands jack over the weekend? If so, what is your impression of the jack?

I would have liked to, but I’m still not on my feet and moving around yet. I’ve just been buying cool stuff to install when I do 😂

Happiness is a new tool or in your case 3. I ordered a new 3HP Dust Collector for my shop Saturday which was close to $4000 so I better let the wife recover from that before I buy much more.

No pulse back, those don't exist in the range I'm looking at. That type of collector would be in a much larger industrial type setting. My new Collector is a Laguna P Flux 3 which is the upper end of the range for a medium cabinet shop. It will support 3 open blast gates at a time. It's at the high range for a hobby guy like me. It is a 3HP HEPA filter machine with sound deadening panels, automatic filter clean, drum sensor with alarm, and remote control. The automatic filter clean is a dual set of paddles on the inside of the filter that rotates clockwise then counterclockwise for 10 seconds after 10 minutes of operation. It has a 45-gallon collection drum which is quite a bit larger than what I have now. I'm looking forward to "more power" and the added features.

Here is a video of the collector

Now that is nice! I assume you are doing lots of woodworking?

Off and on, I've actually not done a lot of "customer" projects for a few years........it started to feel like a job, and I already have one of those that pays a lot better. I like to make things you can't buy in a store, like the Bourbon Cabinet I just made for a guy that was a friend of a friend. I also like to make things for family and friends, things they appreciate because I made it. I usually make several items for a local charity sale; I find it satisfying when it sells for 2-3 times what it should be worth. I've done this for 30 years and always have people come up to me to let me know they still have something that they bought at the sale X years ago. I hope to be retired in less than 2 years and plan to do woodworking as a side hustle to keep me busy and make some tool money. I no longer need to build stuff to make extra money so I'm picky what I do and who I do it for. My rules are simple........it will cost what it cost, and I'll have it done when I'm finished with it.
