Talked with my dealer. After he returned from the Polaris Dealer meeting in Tennessee. He informed me that the trans now should be serviced around 2500 miles. Has any one else been told this?
I never heard of this and I'm not so sure it's true or even makes sense. A 2500 miles service on an automotive style steel drive transmission.......really? Most that have serviced them at 6000 miles report the oil looks like new.
I will be doing my 1st trans oil and filter change around 4k miles so I can see internal pan, I haven't found what the pan bolts get torque to, see specs on every other bolt but not trans pan.
@Fort10: I called my dealer today and asked about this 2500 mile trans fluid change. He also attended the meeting in Tennessee and does not recall that being said. He then reviewed the latest maintenance recommendations with me and they still say to change the transmission fluid and filter at 600 hours or 6000 miles. The only exception (which is in the owners manual) is if using under extreme conditions such as constantly pulling heavy loads, then you should change at 3000 miles. Maybe your dealer is trying to make some extra $$$. You might want to call Polaris and verify. Just an FYI. Hope that helps.
