Two New Mountaineers

My friend and I went into the Fay Myers Polaris dealership in Denver a couple of weeks ago and we both purchased a 2026 Polaris Mountaineer. Issues. I ordered a headache rack and when it came in the bolt holes in the rack did not line up with the nuts built into the roll bar/cage of the Mountaineer. The dealer ordered a new one and that did not line-up either. The dealer wasn't sure how to best fix the problem and mentioned that they may drill out the rack holes to match the frame of the Polaris and they wanted me to pay for the service. I called Polaris HQ customer service and they mentioned that the dealer had not opened a ticket on the issue and suggested that I call the dealer and tell them it should be on the warranty. The dealer has my Polaris and I am still waiting for them to open a ticket with HQ and to let me know they are going to properly fir the machine and not the rack... I will keep you posted.

That’s shitty. Unfortunately you are not the only person that has had that issue over the past couple of years. I can’t remember what some of the other members resolution was, but maybe some of them will chime in.

Right now, Fay Myers' service is telling me that they will open a ticket with HQ today and fix the Mountaineer and not the headache rack. I am waiting on the ticket number.

I will be curious to hear what they do. Quite a few people have had the same problem... last I checked, you could see it in the reviews on the rack on the polaris website. Mine didn't line up quite right either.

If they do not fix it, I will create a sign something like "Don't purchase a Polaris at Fay Myers" and march up and down the sidewalk in front of their business. They are on a very busy intersection and it will get a lot of visibility. I will keep this forum posted.

Additionally, my friend's Mountaineer was delivered with the Box rack mounted on backwards. I noticed it because I just put my box rack together (but not on the Polaris yet) and remenbered that the front of the rack is taller that the back. He opted to get the service fee back and we will turn it around later.

Sounds like shitty service from the dealer, they should know better. The Polaris rack is a known problem I cant believe Polaris has not fixed it by now. It seems pathetically simple to change the design to allow for some adjustment during the installation. Other manufacturers have figured this out, not sure what their freaking problem is.

I've never seen a dealership have the tech make a video explaining how they installed something. Based on how he explained he made it work it must not have been that far off, I've seen pictures of some that were off too much for that method to work. I would be surprised if he didn't clearance out a hole or two to make it fit.

When I mounted mine I figured out you need to do like he explained in the video and loosely start a bolt in one corner and cross to another corner and loosely start all bolts first. I never needed to use a bar, but whatever works.

I had tried the loose bolt using multiple combinations that did not work. I do plan to back out the bolts just a little bit to see if they did any metalwork. I should get to that tomorrow.

A bit disappointed with 2026 XD1500 Ultimate​

You will find more about the mis-alignment. I just discovered the last bolt I installed (Top right Passenger side) has sheared off and was laying in the bed of my buggy the other day. I haven't gotten around to removing the broken piece and replacing it with a new one.

Fay Myers did not open a ticket with HQ. Interesting...

If it's on I would leave it on and forget about it. No reason to risk stripping a bolt or damaging threads.

Here is the reply that came with the video " There was no need to start a case with polaris since it did install with no issues,
you will have slight tolerance differences with steel accessories when they are mass produced.

we waived the install cost, here's a copy of that repair order with the technicians notes."

My thought is that many companies mass produce steel accessories with NO tolerance issues. Sadly, most are not American companies.

I have the Polaris rear bumper on mine and it fits good. I’m satisfied with it.
