Trail Limits And The New Ranger XD 1500

Assembly voted on and passed Senate Bill 339 today on a voice vote. It will be sent to or be requested by the Governor in the next few weeks to sign or veto.
Governor has 6 working days if does not veto bill it becomes law with no signature . He could sign sooner or veto sooner. Hopefully a good outcome

Some comments about Minnesota's 2000 lb limit. There was a bill introduced in spring 25 to increase weight to 3000 lbs.... it died immediately, went nowhere.
My biggest concern: When you purchase it, the dealer absolutely will register it as a Class II ATV... ok, cool. They got around it in the past by using the dry weight of the stripped down, no doors, no hvac, non-Northstar version of the 1500. Now, Polaris doesn't even offer this trim level... they are all Northstars.
IF you get caught by an overzealous DNR officer, your ATV registration is invalidated and you must re-register as an ORV. Once you do that, several things happen:
1. You can't ride any ATV trails, ORV only which extremely limits available trails.
2. If your city/township allows you to ride ATVs on the streets like they do where I live, this will be invalidated and you can no longer ride on roads.
3. Once the VIN is registered as an ORV, it can never be converted back to an ATV registration, unless that was included in a proposed bill that passes (unlikely).

These machines are not inconspicuous.... they are extremely obvious and easy to spot. If the DNR starts cracking down on full-cab machines, anyone with Xpeditions, Ranger 1000 Northstars, 1500s, HD10/11s, etc are screwed multiple ways if they want to ride off private property.

I had heard that MN Was looking at 3000 and the decided to hold off Polaris told them they needed to look at 3500 they wanted to see what happened in Wisconsin.
Wisconsin has just passed a 3500lbs limit. That is if the governor does not veto the bill he has the bill or will soon that is the last step. IM HOPING THAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT WEEK. If he does not veto it. It will take affect 1 March 26. I was in Crosby last year and just about every machine was over 2000
The dnr was their but did not bother us. Their was 2 15oo and a expedition with us. And I see others. But I understand you frustration
Wisconsin pulled my regeratration last year so mine traveled to the UP slot.
GOOD LUCK. We just talked about trip to Crosby this year.

I consider myself lucky that Iowa has no size or weight limits on their SXS's. Other than the 35-mph speed limit and that stupid SMV sign I don't have much to complain about.

Should have proofed that before posting
I will work on tha

At least it looks like it may change soon. But I have hoping for while

It is not only weighing more than a car it cost way more than a car with the standard bump a scrape necessary attachments $58,000 in ours

Just curious if this went through or got vetoed
Still waiting to get to the governor when it finally gets there he has 6 days to sign or veto if he does neither it passes anyway. The odds at passing appear to be around 85% i will post when I know the outcome
