1500 CLUNKING NOISE UPDATE

Franklst
Did you get you get yours back from the dealer ?
Nope Polaris had the dealer hook a listening device to the unit to record the sound to see what the next step is. They have replaced the differential and axles and still have yet to fix it. They are thinking they will replace the transmission next because there is only so many things that could be causing the issue.

Thanks. Keep us posted I have seen on another forum
that the new diff and axles haven't solved the problem
either.

Just had my axles and Hubs changed, and the rotating noise is gone for now, but when I touch the gas and let off, I get a loud knock both ways. I can feel it in the floorboards.

Sounds like it needs to go back to the dealer.

Yep. Its is now probably the backlash Polaris will tell the dealer to check the specs on that.

Update: Dealer called me on Friday and said they got it fixed.... The replaced the axles, which did not fix it, then Polaris had them put shims in the differential for the backlash after they had just replaced the diff. This did not fix it it either. Polaris is now saying the clunk is normal and there is nothing more they are willing to do for it. 105 hours on a 50k machine and it is a clunker... I am going to replace the hubs to see if that helps, if not I'm going to trade in on a new Can Am HD 11. I'll keep the group posted once I get the hubs on.

Did it not help at all I am picking mine up tomorrow dealer told me mine was better than before Polaris said the same thing deal with it its normal?

Unfortunately no it did not help. At first it seemed better but after driving it for about an hour it is just as bad as it was.

if polaris wont fix it right get a lawyer and take action

I guess it also depends on how tight to spec the dealer reset the backlash I wonder if polaris has addressed this problem on the 26 model might have to wait awhile till they do or trade like you said I really like mine besides this issue I cannot stand a clunk I have a 1000xp with 10500 miles never been at the dealer .

I had the Loctite fix done a few weeks ago. It SEEMS to be ok, but the more annoying clunk is now from the rear swaybar. Over sharp bumps, there is a distinct “clunk”. I pulled the rear sway, the noise is gone. This is not the fix, as I want the rear sway to remain connected. Machine has around 400miles on it. It only started recently. The bushings/links seem ok. Anyone else with this issue?? I see Shock Therapy sells swaybar links for the 1500. Maybe a fix?

No. That won’t work. They will eat you alive.
Been a polaris owner for a LONG time just sent them a email slammed them pretty hard will see what they say had issues with this machine from the day it was delivered??

Has anyone had the "clunk" noise with aftermarket axles? I have the Thumper Fab long travel kit with axles but don't have a lot of miles on it yet.

I totally agree! But I don’t think they will. I just make sure to bring it up every time I talk to me dealer or take it in for anything. Like I’ve mentioned before, when I call to bring it in for anything, I just let them know I’m bringing in the $60K clunker.
