1500 CLUNKING NOISE UPDATE

Good luck I have had 2 sets once for the outer spline noise fixed that but not the clunk took back polaris said add shims for backlash which was out of spec and another set of axles helped a little and I mean very little but it still needs a diff!!

When I first drove my Northstar I was really impressed how it was so much like a small suv or pick up.
Then I thought this cab is going to increase expectations over the non cab models as any slight noise will be amplified.
I don’t tolerate any strange noises in my suburban.
I think Polaris set itself up for failure with the cab as all theses clunking sounds probably have been there all along on non cab models.
Now they have to play engineering/mechanical catch up to their own over reach.
But I still love it even when it clunks.
My 50 cents.

I had XP 1000 northstar and that machine never clunked. The cab wasn’t sealed as tight as my XD, and my XD is a far better machine, minus the clunk. I just make sure to bring it up any time I talk to them. That way it’s mentioned in case it does leave me stranded.

Congrats!
Mines going in the 3rd now.
Clunking fix, hopefully.
Windshield leak at wiper motor
2 Recalls on door latches
Annual oil change and routine maintenance.
Fingers crossed…

Anyone with long travel have these issues? I don't trust what dealers tell you. Most are pretty young and they know it all with no experience!

I have the Thumper Fab long travel. Unfortunately I do have the “clunk” like the factory axles, just not as loud.

Just had my axles and Hubs changed, and the rotating noise is gone for now, but when I touch the gas and let off, I get a loud knock both ways. I can feel it in the floorboards.
Update, they shimmed the rear end and so far so good. Has anyone found a solution for the clicking in the front suspension? Mine's been doing it since I bought it and Polaris said it's normal. Getting tired of hearing the noise.

Any updates on a for sure fix on the rear clunking noise?

A new diff is the only fix !! Keep on your dealer just
have PATIENCE and be NICE with your dealer they can get it done
it just takes awhile to get it done Polaris had them
do the shims that did not work FINALLY Polaris
agreed to put in a new Diff it just came off backorder
it was on backorder for over a month that tells me something!! If you have the polaris extended warranty that helps
I think Polaris will help you more with that !!

Does anyone have a fix for the 2024 model with the window motors that barely move the windows up or down?

The Clunk on my 2025 is terrible, dealer checked the axles a while back they were tight, also locktite the axles neither helped. The dealer just got a bulliten from Polaris about 10 days ago that said to locktite the axles and the yoke, they did that this week and the clunk is gone. Will see how long that last, my machine has 5,400 miles on it and the clunk started within a couple months of new.

The quietness and smoothness of the gear shifting is one of the major reasons I purchased a 1500.
It started at 1300 miles, it now clunks every time you put it in reverse and every time you let off the gas when you are moving forward.
Took it in to get my head unit (ride command) replaced because it skipped and played in fast forward when using blue tooth.
They did replace that for me.

I was told they will not do anything for the clunking noise because it is not a mechanical malfunction and they don't have a fix for the clunking it is doing now. So I guess so much for the nice smooth shifting and quietness that bought it for is now gone.
I hope every one that has the clunking issue reports it so maybe they will have a recall. $45,000 is to much to pay for a utv and get that kind of service from Polaris. I really like my 1500 , but I'm not real happy with the service I'm getting from Polaris.

As you read through all these topics, you’ll find out that all dealers are not the same.

Clearly based on all of the posts in this 5 page thread, dealers are working on the issue and trying to make it right, and have been successful in many instances. Polaris appears to be supporting those efforts... albeit not always successfully. This is a dealer issue.... call Polaris directly.

Same issue with mine. So frustrating.
